What is the opportunity:

Reporting to the Director, Careers in Energy (CIE), the Analyst plays an integral role in providing support, including gathering, analyzing, and synthesizing labour market and occupational information and data for Canada’s energy industry.

 What will you do:

·         Work with professionals comprised of consultants, strategic advisory committees, economists, data modelers, subject matter experts, graphic designers, writers, ESC staff & executives, and others to develop and deliver a variety of labour market information projects, including Labour Market Outlooks.

·         Research, gather, and analyze externally available economic, labour market data, and competitive market information. Responsible for data processing and extrapolation to produce and verify report charts, tables, and other content, including monthly Labour Force Survey data.

·         Supports ESC with data and analysis to ensure accuracy and content consistency in the development of presentations, reports, project documentation, communications messaging, project proposals, and other content.

·         Create and publish reports, dashboards, blogs, and other content to the website.

·         Acts as a point of contact for CIE internal and external stakeholders, including responding to LMI-related inquiries.

·         Other duties as required

What you need to succeed:

  • Post-secondary education in Business, Economics, or a related field
  • 5 + years’ work experience, preferably in a role researching and analyzing labour-specific information
  • Demonstrated experience in quantitative and qualitative research, with knowledge of various research methodologies, is required
  • Experience working in or have some understanding of the Canadian energy industry, Statistics Canada data, and forecasting.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite – Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills – able to effectively build and maintain relationships
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to synthesize and present information to various audiences
  • Excellent organizational skills and detail-oriented
  • High energy, flexible, and can take initiative
  • Takes a collaborative and positive approach when working within a team environment 
  • Enjoys the challenge of working in a deadline-driven environment
