Position: Intermediate Buyer

Job Description:

As an Intermediate Buyer, you will ensure the smooth operation of our organization by managing the procurement of supplies, tools, inventory, and other necessary items. You will build and maintain strong vendor relationships, secure the best prices through effective negotiation, and prioritize financial resources by adhering to budget guidelines. Your role requires excellent negotiation, time management, written and verbal communication, data analysis, and attention to detail to meet delivery schedules and uphold quality standards. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of the product inventory management system.
  • Maintain accurate records of goods ordered and received.
  • Work closely with shipping and receiving to ensure delivery schedules, etc.
  • Research and interview vendors to determine product availability and sales terms.
  • Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment.
  • Review purchase order claims and contracts, research suppliers, and continually evaluate supplier performance.
  • Work closely with the Sales Department (Sales Meetings) to ensure accurate forecasting.
  • Analyze market and delivery systems to assess present and future materials.
  • Develop and implement purchasing and contract management policies and procedures.
  • Resolve vendor or contractor grievances and claims.
  • Represent companies in negotiating contracts and formulating policies with suppliers.
  • Review, evaluate, and approve specifications for issuing and awarding bids.
  • Prepare bid awards, market condition, and merchandise cost reports.
  • Administer online purchasing systems.
  • Arrange for the disposal of surplus materials.

Qualifications:

  • Supply Chain Management certificate/diploma would be an asset or equivalent years of experience in a purchasing role.
  • Minimum 2+ years of related experience, however a combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • High degree of organization skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task while managing deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team; encompassing initiative and decision-making skills.
  • Maintain professional and friendly customer relations, using tact and diplomacy to build positive relationships with clients, colleagues, suppliers, and vendors.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and desktop applications.
